Like the picture above, a thumbnail is an image that tells what your video is about. I think the thumbnail is just as important as the video title itself for getting searchers to stop and view your video. It’s kind of like the cover on a book. In short, their purpose is to grab attention.
When you learn how to create strong thumbnails, you will enjoy more views of your video. Therefore, they are critical to effective YouTube video marketing.
Here are 2 things to keep in mind before you make your thumbnail. In addition to increasing the views of your video, the thumbnail is also an opportunity to brand and promote YOU. I use my picture and copy the style of my blog. Also, plan ahead and think of the words to make clear what the topic of your video is.
The actual creation of the thumbnail is the easiest part of the process. In the YouTube video below, I will show you the steps I went through to create this thumbnail. I am using the free version of Canva in this demonstration. Canva is a powerful online graphic design program. I use it a lot.
