In this blog post, I want to explain how you can increase your email engagement following 8 proven strategies. Now you can have massive success with email, no matter what business you are in.
So first, what is email engagement, and why does it matter?
Email engagement is the interactions I have with the subscribers on my various email lists. For sure, the ultimate engagement is conversions. But there are other engagements that are critical, and lead to those conversions.
I am constantly monitoring engagement to know how effective my email campaigns are.
8 things you can do to increase email engagement
The first thing you have to do is build and maintain a high quality, highly responsive email list. The only way to do this is to generate the leads for the list yourself. Do it the right way, rather than rely on purchased leads or leads from those silly traffic exchanges. That way, subscribers will be truly interested in you and what you are doing, and be more likely to engage.
Next, when subscribers first opt-in, follow up with a good bridge page including another call to action.
Third, you need to do everything you can to maximize your emails getting into your subscribers inbox, and getting those emails opened, read, and acted on. I recently wrote a blog post on how to increase email open rates even double or more.
To help with that, I always ask subscribers to whitelist my email address. I provide simple instructions to do so in the first follow up email. Also, as part of achieving best email performance, be sure to personalize your emails. I almost always collect a first name on my landing pages to help with that.
My fourth strategy is to remember that more and more subscribers are now viewing your content on mobile devices . Be sure your pages and emails are optimized for mobile.
My next strategy is a little-used goldmine
I’ve dramatically increased my email engagements by asking subscribers to reply to an email to let me know they’ve received it. It’ so simple. It also works well to ask subscribers to give me feedback on a topic, request training on a certain task, or ask a question. Ask them to engage!
My next strategy is to make it easy for subscribers to contact you, and encourage them to reach out. I found it made a huge impact putting my cell number in my emails. I invite subscribers to reach out by email, cell, or text. You can always use a Google Voice number rather than give out your personal cell number.
Seventh on the list is to constantly remove inactive subscribers so your list stays fresh and responsive. I posted a step-by-step YouTube video on how to remove inactive subscribers automatically. Watch it here.
My 8th and final strategy is to continually monitor your progress and make adjustments.
I hope video this helps you increase email engagement. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions at any time. I always enjoy sharing ideas with other marketers.
To your success,
Joe Barclay
